Eating alligators meat is considered normal and healthy by some people. Healthy because it is mostly lean and contains fats, unsaturated that is. It also high essential vitamins and minerals, and has more calories compared to the common choices of beef or chicken. But still, they find it a healthier alternative.

Of all parts being sold these days, the tail is the most in demand among buyers for some reason. Next is feet then the rest of the body, it does not matter which part. Preparing the alligator jerky can also affect its nutrition content. Health conscious individuals would surely choose this over other types of meat despite having a high calorie content.

It is usually lean which means there is less chance that you will be eating cholesterol. Other options of meat contain high cholesterol level that clog arteries. If you have unhealthy arteries, expect your heart to be severe. People must eat foods with lower content of fat for them to live healthily. The jerky is a good option in the store indeed.

Its high protein and fiber also helps in the process. It may not have omega fats because a jerky is not a food from the sea like it is different from the fish.

However, experts themselves tell that the best is found on its tail because the content is mostly packed with muscles. This is so because these creatures use their tails to move. This is the reason why there is a little fat in the part. What is fatty are the torso parts. A part that is rich in fiber is the feet, which is hard to digest. Other body parts have similar nutritional composition.

The daily lifestyle of a reptile can determine as well the quality of food. Those wild alligators are rich in proteins because they feed on sea animals or shell fishes. More proteins are consumed therefore which leads to protein stores. Reptiles that are grown in a commercial market are usually fed with processed meals or grains which has higher carbohydrates than proteins.

Those who feed in foods with high carbohydrates contain more fat supplies. Also, they have no sufficient stores of minerals and vitamins. Consumers however should not consider farm reptiles cheap for this reason. They still are different in a positive way compared to their counterparts. The method of preparation matters as well. For instance, adding more butter to the steak can increase its fat content.

Choosing those items that are prepared commercially are not good. Chemicals are used in the process to maintain the color, taste and its structure. This is not a good idea for human being to consume those. Healthy tips of preparation should be considered highly to get a good diet and not the other way around.
