Ghost pepper, which may be known as Bhut Jolokia, is an interspecific hybrid found in India. This is predominate in the Indian states of Nagaland and Assam. There are different applications for this, one of which is in cooking. There are many manufacturers that produce ghost pepper hot sauce, an extremely hot condiment.

The Guinness World Records gave this the title of the hottest chili pepper in the entire world in 2007. That title was re-assigned to the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion in 2012 and in 2013 it was recorded that the Carolina Reaper was the hottest. Still, it is still estimated that ghost peppers have 400 times the heat of traditional Tabasco sauce.

This type of condiment, like the pepper itself, can be used to heat up various dishes, including pickles, curries and churneys. It is also known to add a distinct flavor to various dishes. It is popularly combined with fermented fish or that which has been dried, as well as pork. However, those who do not like spicy foods or that which have a lot of heat flavor may not like this. This type of hot condiment may not be ideal for young children either.

There are many variations when it comes to these condiments. Some may include this alone or many different types of peppers. Most sauces use these as the base and then add vinegar and salt. Some other kinds may call for specific vegetables or fruits to serve as the base and then add chili peppers to give heat.

Many different techniques are involved with manufacturing of this product. These may have their own effects on the final condiment. Some of the variation that may be present in preparation may include aging the product in container, as well as pureeing or cooking ingredients to get the right flavor. The heat rating given to habanero and ghost peppers on the Scoville scale makes these ingredients commonly used in the hottest sauces. Still, other things may be added for additional heat, for instance: pure capsaicin extract, spices, vinegar and mustard oil. Ingredients will vary by product.

The price of these sauces will differ based on many factors, including the manufacturer and the seller. Eating this will give people different reactions on a physical level. People who are tolerant to this may not have as many problems but others who are not may struggle. Usually this sauce is added in small amounts in foods so that it does not make the food item inedible because of the heat level. Sweating and coughing are common reactions of people who consume this.

Ghost pepper hot sauce is extremely hot. This is sold through many manufacturers and is made using one of the hottest peppers in the world. Individuals are encouraged to use the sauce in small amounts and keep it away from small children or other sensitive people.
