Flowers are all time favorites because different flowers convey different meanings. Sweets like bonbon, candy and cakes are very popular gift items because everyone just loves them. But, if you want to give something that is out of the usual from the boxed sweets, then you must definitely try champagne truffles.

Truffles are desserts made of cocoa with a ganache cream center. In this case, champagne is added to the usual whipped cream or in the mixture altogether. There are many variations to this delicious dessert. There are pink, milk and dark chocolate, and classic kinds available today.

You do not have to be an expert baker or chocolatier to be able to make your own. In fact, you can make one at home. If you are interested in learning how to make these sweets, then here is a very easy recipe.

To make classic truffles, you will need your favorite liqueur, just about one fourth of a cup. Fill another cup three fourths of the way with your preferred brand of sparkling wine to go with it. You will also need one fourth cup of honey, one fourth cup of butter and three and one fourth cups of cocoa bars. You can use chocolate chips or just chop yourself a bar. Aside from these, you need another two cups of chocolate and two cups of powdered sugar to coat your truffles.

For the truffle filling, melt together butter, honey, champagne and liqueur in a saucepan. Add the chips and continue stirring until concoction is smooth. After all the ingredients are evenly mixed, pour them over in a large bowl and cover it with plastic wrap.

Put the bowl inside the refrigerator for at least an hour. Get a cookie sheet and line it with waxed paper. Dole out teaspoonfuls of the mixture onto the cookie sheet and and freeze them for about a quarter of an hour. Roll into balls and freeze again until firm.

Now, for the coating, sift two two cups of sugar and keep the half in the sifter. The other half should be poured evenly on another cookie sheet. Set aside. In a double boiler, melt the cocoa and stir until smooth. Drop the balls in the melted chocolate, making sure that each ball is completely coated. Get them out of the boiler using a fork and put into the sifter. Roll each ball until everything is covered with sugar, then put them on the sugar dusted cookie sheet.

For pink champagne types, you can substitute the powdered sugar for some pink berry powder. If you want to have dark truffles, melt dark chocolate for the coating. Melt white bars for the milk chocolate variation. This particular recipe makes 60 truffles

If you find it hard to do or you simply do not have the time, do not despair. You can always buy already made ones from specialty stores. After all, it is the thought that counts.
