Cancer & The Helpfulness Of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

By Katie Onson

There are many cases of cancer, as unfortunate as it sounds, and some instances are more serious than others. Simple operations can be done to take care of certain issues, but not everyone is as lucky. Various studies have been done to pinpoint ways to battle this condition, a few of them linked to extra virgin olive oil usage in particular. As a matter of fact, you may be interested to know that this type of oil can work against cancerous cells.

The Olive Oil Times website detailed a study that showed how this type of product could kill cancer cells. This was illustrated by the work done by Paul Breslin and Onica LeGendre, a nutritional scientist and a chemist respectively, and they focused on oleocanthal in particular. For those who do not know, this is a rather common ingredient that's found in extra virgin olive oil. It also has its own slew of advantages, as I'm sure authorities such as Unaprol could attest to.

What you should know about oleocanthal, at the onset, is that it works surprisingly quickly. For those who do not know, this chemical has the ability to rupture cancerous cells, meaning that they will be able to release enzymes and die off in about 30 minutes or so. It's a tremendous talking point, to say the least, especially amongst those who have been studying this oil for years. A piece of news like this should not be relegated to the realm of science.

Further, it seems as though oleocanthal can be utilized for the purpose of helping various species. While it's clear that this can have a positive influence on humans, Breslin reported that the utilization of this ingredient can also shrink tumors in mice. What this shows is that such a component has more than its fair share of advantages. It's just a matter of how well they are used, which is what this study has been able to cover in tremendous detail.

One of the biggest medical discussions, to say the least, is the idea of cures for cancer. Unfortunately, there aren't cures that can be considered solid, which is why a story like this happens to be so noteworthy. It shows that the ingredients in foods that we love, extra virgin olive oil included, have the potential to bring about more positive medical change. It's just a matter of how much information is obtained, and the level of work that's conducted in research as well.
