This type of cuisine originated in Italy and has been shaped over time by economic and social changes. The rich taste and regional diversity are what have made it popular around the world.

This cuisine started after the Roman Empire fell and different cities started to differentiate and to come up with their own traditions. The first Italian restaurant to be established was located in Rome and Athens and it mostly served spinach, almond and rice. This cuisine has since developed over the years.

After sometime they introduced spaghetti, casseroles, salt cod among others. Since refrigeration did not exist hence the fish was mostly smoked or salted in order to preserve it. Traditionally, an Italy-style meal contain between four to five courses. The restaurants are built for majorly families since they often see meals as a way of spending time with the family rather than just sustenance. They uphold the family spirit and hence they are very joyous.

In the current world people serve this type of cuisine in weddings and special occasions. It is viewed as the most exotic type of cuisine. An everyday menu usually includes the first and second course then a side dish and coffee. The first course is normally a more satisfying dish like pasta.

A blend of coffee beans roasted to medium or medium dark in the north and as one moves south it gets darker is used to make Italian style coffee. Also, they serve locally produced wine. Italy is the largest producer of wine in the entire world. It is also the biggest exporter of wine besides being also the major wine consumer. Italians have a great taste of wine and foods.
