Raising Irish Black Cattle For Sale

By Georgia Diaz

When you look at all of the qualities that Irish black cattle offer to a buyer or breeder you should thank Maurice Boner. He was the genetic master-mind of the animal you see today. He perfected what he saw as the ideal dame and then imported three Friesian bulls to complete the equation. Today you can find any number of Irish black cattle for sale to purchase. In his creation he used a closed experiment and qualified the genetic lines completely. The lines were registered for trademark in 1990 to ensure purity.

You can find many advantages to this breed of animal. They have long life spans and high fertility rates late into their lives. Introducing one bull into the herd will completely change the value of your herd. These cows and bulls have dominant genes and they will over power the genes of other breeds within the first season. A pure-bred bull is raised with the strictest controls available. The book of sires is closed and the goal is to produce the highest quality calf you can get.

Calves are almost identical when born. If you plan to sell them for slaughter they will have uniform size and stature and the cuts of meat will be juicy and tender for consumers. They show consistently high marbling and very low back fat for a high quality cut of meat. This constant line of quality will guarantee a good return on the money spent by you to raise them.

Calves are vigorous and lively when born. They arrive in the spring and the cows have a much shorter gestation period than other breeds. After only two hundred seventy seven days delivery is easy for the cows because they have been bred to have larger pelvis areas. It is very rare for them to need any help with this process.

Feed conversion is another ideal faction of this enterprise. You will find that you will spend less on feeding because their metabolism converts more feed to nutrition than the average cow. This is mainly due to the moderate size of the cow's frame. A herd of 120 half-breeds will cost the same as 100 head of any other type of steers to feed.

When considering registration of your bull you need genetic DNA proof that it comes from the initial lines created when the breed started. There are also stringent reproduction and fertility requirements that must be met prior to registration with the ACCA. The candidate may never have been shown competitively either. If your bull cannot consistently meet these standards it will be stricken from the books by the ACCA.

You can gain some privilege by joining the ACCA. Memberships can be purchased for a year, two years or a lifetime. Some benefits to a member are the right to vote on many of the rules and procedures enforced by the ACCA. You will be eligible to receive a discount if you choose to resister you bull with them and you may qualify to have access to put your bulls in the development center.

When choosing what stock you want you would be remiss not to look into Irish black cattle for sale. The advantages they offer are many. They can help you to widen the production of an existing herd or start a new career that will benefit you and your family.
