Great Ideas For Seasonal Weddings And The Wedding Menu

By Linda Ruiz

Choosing the theme, decor and season of your dream-day wedding is very important but the wedding menu is even more so. You will want foods which flow together and go with one another as well as be seasonal if that is what your wedding is themed by. There are many caterers you can choose from to help walk you through the menu options and take the stress away from you by setting up and serving being done by their staff.

For a beautiful spring-time event you can decorate with the seasons most exquisite flowers and use pastels such as pale pinks, lavender, blues and yellows. Two favorite flowers are daffodils and tulips for this time of the year. The menu should include refreshing food and drinks. The cake should also be in pastel colors and in a flavor like lemon, coconut, or strawberry with light butter-cream whipped frosting and filled with fresh fruit that corresponds to the actual flavor.

For spring drinks incorporate Bellini's and daiquiri's for the adults at your reception and for the non-alcoholic libations lemonade and sweet tea. For salad options choose crisp baby greens and fresh tomatoes and other vegetables. For the main entree the perfect choices are seafood especially when getting married in Boston Ma., where fish and crustaceans are abundant.

Fall weddings are not only lovely events but gives you the decorating colors of the glimmering golds and burnished reds, browns and golds this season has to offer. Your menu needs to include foods that are hardy and represent this season. Starters you can choose from are compote with fig and apples, and fresh fall fruit tarts.

A nice roasted pork with honey, sliced apples and raisins is perfect for the cooler temperature in fall. Nice crisp cocktails like apple brandy or apple spiked ciders will delight the taste buds and accompany the entire menu. The wedding cake can be pumpkin spice cake with a pumpkin pie filling and frosted with a caramel butter-cream in a fall color or a nice spiced cake with a filling of dark chocolate and frosted with a burnished gold or red dark chocolate frosting.

If winter is your special season for marriage then the menus needs to be full of soothing warm foods and drinks. Colors are glittering and bright this time of the year. For appetizers you can use ravioli filled with butternut squash, mini shooters of soup or skewers of honey glazed meatballs. The main course can include honey baked ham or a roast beef perfect for the holiday time.

Cocktails like hot buttered rum and hot cocoa with a little extra kick added in with marshmallow or peppermint vodka are great accompaniments to the meal. A soup with vegetables and a hearty beef served with a rye or wheat bread are perfect for starting the reception. Your entree can be a nice ham with brown sugar and honey glazing, this will get everyone in the holiday spirit.

For the bride and groom cake a nice spiced caramel with a frosting of butter-cream or a dark velvety chocolate orange delight frosted and filled with dark chocolate and decorated with orange flakes and flowers. Just remember that whatever theme or season you choose the menu should be reflected with foods which match them and your wedding will day will be a dream come true.
