Chocolate Chip Scones Are Delicious

By Anthony Cook

When it comes to the scone, there are some people who like them and some people who don't, but the people who do enjoy them absolutely love them. Chocolate chip scones are just one of the many varieties that these amazing treats come in, and there are just as many varieties as there are occasions when they can be enjoyed. No matter what is going on, it is always a great day for a scone.

While there are numerous people can say that they enjoy these pastries, not everyone agrees on how they are pronounced. Since they are popular in so many different parts of the world, it is only natural that different people would end up saying the word in different ways. Depending on where you are, you might hear it pronounced so that it rhymes with the word "gone, " whereas in other places it might be that it sounds like it rhymes with "cone."

There is some disagreement as to how the word scone initially developed. In the early 1500s, there were a few different apparent influences, such as the Dutch schoonbrood, or spoon bread, and the Scottish bannock. Eventually, the best qualities of these baked foods were brought together to create the treat we know and love.

Originally, a scone started out large, round, and flat. It was then cut into triangles to be served. Nowadays, these pastries have a much thicker texture thanks to the invention of baking powder.

It is a good idea to check the local bakery or even just the bakery in the local supermarket to see if they make a good scone there. Before buying a whole bunch for a big party or event, it is always best to try one just to make sure they are up to your standards. Also always remember that fresh is best, and a stale scone will never taste quite right.

As the old expression goes, if you want something done right, do it yourself. The same goes for this delicious food, and there is certainly no better way to get exactly what you want in a recipe than to experiment in your own kitchen until it is perfected. It might take some extra time and effort, but it will definitely all pay off when you, your family, and your friends bite into the deliciousness of a fresh baked scone.

One of the best ways to eat a scone is with a piping hot cup of tea. Coffee is another popular way to take your scone, and the sweetness of the pastry compliments the flavor of the coffee just perfectly. Other times, it is just nice to have one with milk for dessert when one is feeling indulgent.

Many people have coveted family recipes for this kind of thing. It is worth it to ask relatives if they have one. These can often be much better than recipes used by commercial bakeries.
