Try Mixed Nut Butters For Baked Goods And Treats

By Amy Foster

A lot of people hear the word butter and one of two things may happen. They may think about the slightly sweet luscious texture that is the perfect companion to breakfast or a big bucket of fresh popcorn. Others may think about the calories or fat content, and not want to hear anymore because it will ruin their diet. The good news is that mixed nut butters offer the best of both worlds.

Even though this may look like the commercial peanut butter products in the jar, there is a lot more good stuff inside. These mixed nut blends have more fiber, nutrients, and antioxidant properties not found in most peanut butter brands. While few people like to think about health when eating dessert, it helps to be aware of alternatives that can help ease the guilt.

This is not to be confused with gritty products that have fewer calories. Although these are great for using in baked goods, sometimes products with a natural oil make the difference. Mixed nuts come in a variety of flavors and the nutritional benefits vary. For instance, sunflower seeds are great for cardiovascular health and can help reduce cholesterol levels.

Roasted mixed nuts have a robust flavor that is not found in commercial peanut butter products. Cashews, hazelnuts, and pecans tend to be on the sweeter side but have a significant amount of magnesium. Almonds and walnuts are also high in antioxidants needed for cell regeneration and heart health.

Besides desserts and snacks, this can also be used for main entrees. Internation dishes like pad thai and peanut chicken stew are popular dishes that traditionally call for peanut butter or ground peanuts for the sauce. There are also some people who like to use spicy peanut sauce for fish, poultry, and even as a replacement for traditional pizza sauce.

Eating natural foods are also a good way to retain energy levels as a person ages. When a person matures, they may find they do not eat portions as large as when they were younger. Sometimes, it is common for an older individual to skip meals, which can have reverse health effects. In other words, foods high in protein like nut butter can provide a nice balance because these are dense in nutrients.

Converting over to natural foods can also make workouts more effective. While it may not take a lot to get in shape, most people find that eating right is the key to consistency. When a person eats the right foods regularly, they also find mental clarity.

Trying something new is a part of learning how to eat right. Sometimes an individual may be afraid of change because they associate it with sacrificing a satisfying quality of life. Even if a person does not need to lose weight, some chronic ailments may call for an adjustment in how a person eats. While eating the right foods may not cure all diseases, it can make the healing process a little easier.
