Changing Ones Lifestyle With Easy And Healthy Recipes

By Marjorie Richards

You are what you eat they say, so you want to eat right. Learning to make easy and healthy recipes is the answer. Good nutrition brings with it general fitness and wellbeing. For many, it's time to start a new road to robust health.

Preparing good food need not be uniquely for oneself. Sharing with others is part of the pleasure. Finding the right ways to cook is not hard with the plethora of sites online. Most tout vegetables, protein, fruit, and dairy as part of a normal regime. Easy access to information comes with the right app. It will lead you to some tasty alternatives that won't pack on the pounds. Eating well need not be dull and boring. You can even subscribe to newsletters that will provide new fodder for the kitchen each month.

If you are coming from an unhealthy lifestyle, the chances of you giving up this healthy diet is high. Because of this, it is important to note your favorite dish and incorporate it to your new recipes. Doing so will ease you into the transition because it will give a sense of familiarity. For example, if you love meatballs, you can put mini meatballs in the freshly tossed salad you made. Do this until you discover other substitutes for the meatball. You need not remove it totally from your diet.

If your family has a book of family recipes for generations, use it to inspire your healthy recipe. Home cooked meals are definitely healthier than fast food because you are using all natural ingredients and less oil. Alter these family recipes for a healthier version. Minimize oil for example by using a non-stick pan but make sure that the taste is maintained.

Pick ideas form restaurants you love and them make your own version at home. Not only is it cheaper, it is healthier as well. If you like pizza for example, you can make dough from scratch, a chunky tomato sauce for the base and a lot of nutritious vegetables as toppings. If you bought the ingredients, you know what is in your food and you are most likely to eat it.

Get fresh produce when you shop. Avoid the aisle of canned goods. Remember that you can make the canned goods fresh from scratch. Spanish sardines for example are preserved mackerel bursting with flavor. You can do that and adjust the flavor that suits your taste. Canned tomatoes for example can be substituted by tossing fresh tomatoes in a blender. Know also the tell tale signs of fresh meat - fish, meat and poultry. Fresh ingredients are not just nutritious, they contribute greatly to the taste of your meal.

Organic food is quintessentially healthy because it is additive free. You can also be creative with the recipes you get online. You can add different seasonings and experiment at will. It is fun, fast, and delicious. You never have to be rigid about healthy cooking. Just keep it light and fat-free. Use yogurt instead of butter and oil for sauces and dressings; consume only whole grains instead of processed cereals and white rice. Eat fruit for dessert. You might even save money in the process!

So start collecting your favorite recipes now and share them with friends. You will get some good ones in return. Everyone will know you are on a health kick, and a permanent one at that. In the long run, a new you will emerge--stronger and better than ever.
