The Common And Most Valuable Cattle Fencing

In any farm, it is important that barriers are erected. Barriers can be used for the following purposes. Fences are commonly used to clearly partition land that separates a person land from another persons piece of land. Another reason for erecting a barrier is to confine livestock in a certain area and prevent them from trespassing in other peoples property. Cattle fencing are commonly used to restrict animal movement.

For those farmers whose ranches are neighboring a forest, they will definitely have no option but to construct a fence. The forests are the hiding place of predators and in the absence of a strong fence, you will be endangering your livestock. Also to prevent your animals from carelessly mating, you need to separate the bulls from the heifers by use of a fence.

The kind of fence a person wants will determine the kind of materials to use. But in some cases the following will affect the kind of material one installs. Capital, climatic conditions and number of animals or livestock held are some of the factors that influence the kind of fence to install. Other factors that may influence the choice of fencing materials include terrain, location of your farm, and kind of animals being reared in your farm.

There is a recommended height that farmers ought to observe to avoid any problems from their state authorities. Some states usually recommend or stipulate the height of a fence. The most recommended height is around 3.5 feet to four feet or 1.2 meters. It is difficult for any animal to jump in or out if this height level is maintained.

Barriers are of physical nature, psychological nature or a combination of both. Physical barriers usually are made of strong fencing materials such as wood and woven wires which discourage animals from challenging the barrier. Psychological fence is simply discouraging an animals from challenging any barrier by inflicting pain on it.

But today, there are some new materials that have been developed to make stronger and more durable fences. Among the new materials is high tensile wire. The kind of fence needed for a certain livestock will majorly depend on few factors. These factors include animal species, breed, age, and production system. Beef cattle will have a completely different type of fencing from horse fence.

Some of the materials common used in the past include, electrified wire, woven, barbed wire, mesh wire and in some rare cases, some farmers may combine all of this materials to make one very strong fence. Board fence was also a common barrier used by some farmers. Every farmer wants a strong, durable and economical fence.

Some of the maintenance needed on any fence includes replacing, retensioning corners and resettling staples. The advantages of using woven wire fence include, having a strong fence, secure, and relatively good looking. It confines almost all livestock that is including sheep as well as goats. The disadvantages associated with woven fence are, the high initial cost, the maintenance cost is quite high and requires a lot of labor hours to install.
