Happiness takes many forms. This means that this certain feeling is unique to every individual. There could be some things that make you happy but not or others, and vice versa. Happiness for most can be found with pets, family, friends, special someones, material possessions, triumphs, and achievements. Oh, and there is food.

Speaking of food, this is one of the most basic needs one has to have in order to truly survive. Aside from human beings, all living creatures that roam the earth also have to eat to survive. It is where the nutrients and energy that one needs is derived. Without food, humans will never last long. They will also be hindered from doing all the things they need and want to do. Genuine food lovers even take it to the next level and consult seasonal recipes for the next best meal.

The seasonality of food is a term used to refer to the certain times of the year when a certain produce is at its peak, both in terms of flavor peaking or harvest peaking. It is also the time when the said item is at its cheapest and freshest in markets, which is why wise buyers often wait for the season of their favorite produce to be able to buy many without having to spend so much.

Many contributory factors play a big role why majority of the population choose to eat what is in season. At the top of the very long list of advantages pertains to financial factors. If the food is in season, it is sold in really really low prices due to the increase in supply yet decrease in demand. It is better to buy these things now than any other time.

When the fruit is at peak, they also taste far better. Anything fresh always taste better, and will last really longer. When it is not in season, the taste is invariably affected as well. Locally harvested foods often have their whole flavors intact, which they also release in whole when eaten. Chilling them somehow takes some of the freshness away, which is often what is done when items are bought off peak.

They also provide you with variety. Having to eat the same thing over and over is very boring, not to mention less nutritious as compared to changing recipes every now and then. If you cannot grow one nearby, you can drive off to the most convenient farmers market.

They are also found nearby. You do not have to travel far to be able to prepare something in the dinner table. The convenience they provide is often enough to entice many to make the switch. Nothing is more enjoyable than making a dish from scratch with the use of what is found in your garden.

They are also healthier. Since they are backyard grown, they are safely organic. These then means that the produce is jam packed with nutrients without the added chemicals of commercial ones. This natural option is fast becoming the item of choice for many world renowned chefs.

There are indeed so many good things about eating naturally grown crops. You even help save the environment by favoring the natural method above others. When more and more people try out seasonal diets, then the use of pesticide and other synthetic methods that harm the earth will also die out.
