Who can ever resist the serving of that sweet course after a meal? In fact, a meal is not quite a "meal" if not concluded by desserts of any kind. Americans are definitely a nation of people who love desserts - from pies to cakes, cookies and ice cream. More than the deliciously sweet tastes, it must be that wonderful feeling after eating these desserts that make us real fanatics of them. Let us take a look at what the top-rated desserts are according to Americans.

The phrase "as American as apple pie," definitely highlights the great love for pie in the United States. Different styles of pie have been served as a dessert course even in the days when the colonies still belongs to England. Needless to say, apple pies have made its way to the top of the list of the most favorite of its kind, followed by the pumpkin pie. We can go on forever if we enumerate the different pies there is from flavor to kinds of pies. Chocolate crme pies, key lime and lemon meringue are just a few others with great popularity.

The next desserts on our list are particularly hard to refuse especially if you have an extra strong "sweet tooth" - chocolate cake and chocolate brownies. As for kids, one of the all-time favorite American desserts would have to be cookies. The innkeepers broke up bars of Nestle semi-sweet chocolate and stirred them into her cookie batter.
