Foods To Eat While In Rehab

By Burnet Lion

When you wake up in the morning, many men and women grab for their morning coffee or favorite breakfast item. Sometimes its eggs, waffles or French toast. Other times, it is a piece of fresh fruit. Many people often wonder what they must do in order to have a healthy life. It is important to provide your clients with nutritious food. After all, they are getting sober from a battle with alcohol and drugs. You might have to make a decision on whether or not to give them fresh baked foods from a chef or a catered meal. Most rehabs today are trying to make their guests stay as comfortable as possible.

Many treatment centers are seeing the need to keep frozen meals available for residents as well. It is important to have weekly meal plans for your guests. It is often a good idea to allow them to tell you what they like to eat, rather than you telling them what foods are available to them. Many treatment centers are now catering menus to their clients. Many times, there will be an extra food charge if guests prefer eating steaks and lobster tails for dinner. Treatment centers are learning that you can cater your meal to your clients, but you should not lose profits at the same time.

Some of the residents will also enjoy snack foods. Americans love snack foods such as ice cream, potato chips, and pretzels, chocolate and so forth. It is important to put all of the residents on a specified meal plan. If your guests have sugar cravings at 10:00 p.m. you want to make sure that they are somewhere within reach. Otherwise your drivers will be taking lots of drives to stores in order to get food for the residents in the facility. Your clients are trying to get sober and often their program lasts for 30+ days. They are in your care for the entire time.

Make sure that the catering company/chef cleans up after themselves and the other residents. Since you are serving food for a small group of clients, someone has to ensure that the kitchen stays sanitized. You might be surprised to find out how many residents leave crumbs all over the place and this leaves everyone feel a sense of discomfort. The object of your cleanliness should be a reason why residents want to stay in the facility.

As each client leaves, have them fill out a comment card. It will tell you whether or not your guests are liking the food or if your plans need to change. Many treatment centers are successful and packed with clients because of the food that they give to people. Your guests won't often comment about the food while they are receiving treatment. However, after they leave, they will often post something on social media about you. After all, you took care of them for 30 days.
